Perfume rating If I didn't know better I would think it was a variety of Eucalypt it is so strong and pungent (later, it becomes more camphorous so it is ultimately nothing like Eucalyptus). (eloquent, I know) Both use citrus and spice in the opening but Tauer grounds his version with a little orris in the heart and uses his signature resinous amber base to soften the edges. It opens with sparkling orangey citrus and myrrh before getting smokier, deeper and richer. It goes on intensely woody and smokey and spicey. Starts with a strong blast of sparkle with cardamon. It goes all incense and rose with a woody backbone for about 5 hours when it starts to be a bit sweeter and resin like; it's not that screechy anymore and the myrrh and resins take a central stage while incense still goes strong. In the same way wines vary from year to year, so can perfume. I could be wrong, but it smells like something that comes from the woods or the incense (rather than the rose). You get what's on the label - incense and rose - but handled with a touch of the typical Tauer fizz that makes these two classic notes seem contemporary and exciting.
